With great sadness, PULSE Music Group reports that Mexican singer-songwriter Jerry Demara, whose songs topped Latin music charts and captivated music fans, has passed away, today, November 30. He was a noted top songwriter and beloved member of the songwriting community and will be greatly missed.

After singing in the church choir, Jerry fell in love with the guitar at age 16. Eventually he became a member of the renowned group, Los Tiranos del Norte, touring Mexico and the United States. In 2017 he scored the # 1 most played Regional Mexican Airplay song on Billboard with “Regresa Hermosa,” performed by Gerardo Ortiz. In 2018 he received two ASCAP Latin Music Awards for most Regional Mexican performed songs including “Regresa Hermosa” and “Para Qué Lastimarme.” In 2018, Jerry also released his debut album Brindemos which reached #3 on Latin Album Charts and was nominated for a Latin GRAMMY® in category of Best Regional Mexican Album.

Demara has written for popular artists such as Alejandra Guzmán, Germán Montero, Original Banda El Limón, Edith Márquez, El Chapo de Sinaloa, La Arrolladora, Yahir, Gerardo Ortiz, and many more. Jerry also wrote two songs on Chiquis’ latest Latin GRAMMY-winning album, including the first single “Animate y Veras” (co-written with his son Gera Demara).

Earlier this year, Jerry recently released his sophomore album Empiezo de Cero. He currently has two songs on the charts with Gerardo Ortiz and Gionvanni Ayala.
