PULSE MUSIC GROUP PROMOTES ASHLEY CALHOUN TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT / HEAD OF CREATIVE

Los Angeles, CA (June 8, 2020) – Scott Cutler and Josh Abraham, co-CEOs of PULSE Music Group, today announced the promotion of Ashley Calhoun to Senior Vice President/Head of Creative, PULSE Music Group. Calhoun was previously Vice President, A&R, PULSE Music Group. In her new role, Calhoun will be responsible for leading PULSE’s world-class A&R team and overseeing the company’s creative strategy for one of the hottest publishing rosters in the industry, including Starrah, OZ, Ty Dolla $ign, YBN Cordae, YBN Nahmir, Kehlani, OG Parker, Tyler Johnson, Trevor Daniel, Chad Hugo, James Blake, Yebba, Bonnie McKee, El-P, and more.

Ashley Calhoun is an A&R powerhouse who has signed some of the biggest names in music. Calhoun’s signing, OZ, recently reigned at the top of six different Top Songwriter and Producer charts simultaneously, including Hot 100 Songwriters, Hot 100 Producers. Calhoun’s roster of songwriters have contributed to several of this year’s biggest charting songs, including the current #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyoncé “Savage Remix” (via Starrah); Drake “Toosie Slide” (#1 on the Billboard Hot 100 via OZ); Travis Scott “Highest In the Room”(#1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 via OZ); Drake & Future “Life Is Good” (#2 Hot 100 debut via OZ); PARTYNEXTDOOR ft. Drake “Loyal” (via OG Parker); Trevor Daniel “Falling” (via Trevor Daniel); YBN Cordae ft. Anderson Paak “RNP” (via YBN Cordae), and more. Calhoun’s newest signing Kehlani just scored her biggest Billboard chart debut entering at #1 on the Top R&B Albums chart with It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. During her first week at PULSE Music Group, Calhoun made quick impact by signing Starrah who won ASCAP’s 2018 Pop Songwriter of the Year.

Calhoun has earned tremendous respect with the music business at large and has been featured in Billboard’s “A&R Power Players”, Billboard’s “Under 30 Rising Stars”, Variety’s “Music’s Next Leaders”, and Billboard’s “PRIDE” list, to name a few. Calhoun has also served as a consultant on projects for RCA Records. Calhoun joined PULSE in 2015 as Senior Director of A&R (and signed Starrah during her first week with the company). She was promoted to Vice President in 2017. Prior to joining PULSE, Calhoun served as Creative Director at Rondor Music Publishing (a division of Universal Music Publishing Group).

Calhoun and the PULSE executive team netted 7 ASCAP Urban Awards last year and was named AIMP Indie Publisher of the Year in 2018.
